Sandbagger Documentary - Presented by Bull & Bear Sailing

Originally built in the 1860’s, Sandbaggers were work boats used in New York Harbor to shuttle oysters to market. As the sails grew larger and the boats more unstable, the crew would move cargo (and later sandbags), from side to side to keep the boats upright, hence the name “Sandbaggers!” Bull & Bear Sailing travels with two replica Sandbaggers to promote youth sailing and to teach people about the history of these amazing boats. 21 minutes.

This 22-minute music video styled documentary talks about the boats' history, construction and purpose - to introduce youth to sailing and give them a passion for the sport.
