HALL OF FAME INDUCTION

  • Public nominations were open from February 1 to April 1.
  • 100 nominations were made.
  • Lifetime Achievement Award and Class of 2015 chosen.
  • 2015 Induction will be held in Bay Head on October 3 and 4.

STEM SAILING™: LEARNING MATH & SCIENCE THROUGH SAILING

  • Navigation and Science of Science curricula have been posted for free use by educators across the country.
  • Teacher Academy established to teach math and science teachers how to sail.
  • STEM Summer Bridge program underway with 60 students.
  • Discussions and plans are underway to institute the STEM Sailing Program in schools in Charleston, Washington, DC, New Orleans, Detroit, Newport and Los Angeles.
  • 105 organizations are part of the STEM Sailing National Consortium. A bi-monthly newsletter of best practices and resources is distributed.
  • National Workshop scheduled for October at United States Naval Academy.
  • 187 9th  & 10th grade Anne Arundel County Public Schools (AACPS) Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) students participated in seven-week NSHOF Project Based Learning (PBL) Module sessions.
  • 117 9th & 10th grade AACPS STEM students participated in field trips to the NSHOF including a tour of United States Naval Academy Hydromechanics Laboratory and Crown Sailing Center.
  • Fourth Annual Marine and Maritime Career Fair for students, grades 7-12, held at Annapolis High School. Co-sponsored by Anne Arundel County Public Schools and Eastport Yacht Club Foundation.

  • Bull and Bear have hosted 85 people for sailing.
  • Corinthian Yacht Club of Philadelphia rendezvous in May .

Wounded Warrior Sailing Squadron

  • Annapolis Spring Regatta, co-sponsored with United Sates Naval Academy, Chesapeake Region Accessible Boating and Connected Warrior Foundation, was held on April 25.
  • Charleston Regatta to be held in the fall, sponsored by the College of Charleston and USS Yorktown.
  • Annapolis Fall Regatta, co-sponsored with United Sates Naval Academy, Chesapeake Region Accessible Boating and Connected Warrior Foundation, to be held September 12.

Classic Wooden Boat Rendezvous & Race

  • Sixth Annual Classic Wooden Boat Rendezvous & Race to be held September 20-21 in cooperation with Chesapeake Traditional Sailing Association.

Tom Morris Library

  • There are now 2,500 items in the collection.
  • Reading room open to the public.

Environental Stewardship

  • Partnership with Sailors for the Sea — Clean Regatta certified.
  • In cooperation with the Maryland Department of Natural Resources and the Chesapeake Bay Foundation, distribution at the Sailing Center of information regarding Saving the Bay.

  • Interactive U.S. map of over 1,580 sailing programs state by state.

Film Library

  • A growing online collection of well over 100 sailing films and videos between four minutes and two hours, some of which are not available anywhere else, engaging several hundred viewers every month from over 40 states and 23 countries.

  • Sailors and Stories: U.S. Olympic Sailing Medalists, U.S. Paralympic Medalists, Rolex Yachtsman of the Year and Rolex Yachtswoman of the Year Recipients, and Nathanael G. Herreshoff Trophy Winners (US Sailing Lists)

Gowrie Group Yacht Club Profiles & Stories Project

  • Partnership with Gowrie Group to collect and tell yacht club stories from around the country.
  • Partnership with SunSail and Moorings to provide discounts to Founding member Yacht Clubs and their members.
  • Long Beach Yacht Club becomes Founding Member.

Chesapeake Station

  • Chesapeake Bay Bermuda 40 Rendezvous held in May.
  • Alberg 30 50th Anniversary Rendezvous held in August.
  • Union League Yacht Squadron rendezvous held in September.
  • New York Yacht Club cruise in October.

Other

  • Volvo Ocean Race Stopover Reception in Newport.
  • Hosted Junior Panel discussion during NOOD Regatta in Annapolis. Co-sponsored with Severn Sailing Association.
  • Hosted Harbor 20 Fleet 5 rendezvous in June..
