Jimmy Buffett is a musician who has contributed greatly to the mass appeal of the sport and lifestyle of sailing.
Jimmy Buffett is an American musician, author, actor and businessman who is also an avid sailor. His songs have captured the joys of the sailing culture and have provided the soundtrack for millions of sailors worldwide. He is best known for his music, which often portrays an “island escapism” lifestyle, and the often humorous things he has experienced through his life sailing and travelling. Together with his Coral Reefer Band, Buffett has recorded hit songs including Margaritaville and Son of a Son of a Sailor. Jimmy Buffett’s devoted base of fans are known as Parrotheads, his concerts, songs, boats and restaurants feature an overarching nautical theme.
Aside from his career in music, Buffett is also a best-selling author and is involved in two restaurant chains named after his two best known songs; Cheeseburger in Paradise and Margaritaville. He has authored three No.1 best-selling books including Tales from Margaritaville, Where is Joe Merchant? and A Pirate Looks at Fifty.
Jimmy Buffett has owned numerous sailboats throughout the years and has devoted both time and funds to various sailing industry non profit organizations and fundraisers.
