Peter

Commette

1954

Peter Commette belongs to that rare breed of champion sailor who does not work in the sailing industry, yet manages to win many championship-level events. He is considered an aspiration among younger laser sailors, and his attention to detail in preparation and execution continues to inspire racers young and old.
A graduate of Tufts University, where he was second at the 1979 ICYRA Singlehanded National Championships, Peter grew up sailing on Barnegat Bay and was inducted into the Barnegat Bay Hall of Fame in 2006. He is a former Commodore of the Lauderdale Yacht Club where he spearheaded a broad initiative to build high school sailing in Florida.
