Jane Wiswell

Pegel

1933

Jane Pegel, a three-time Rolex Yachtswoman of the Year recipient, has won several national and international championships throughout her career in Lasers, E Scows, Sonars, DNs and a host of other boats. She’s the only woman inducted into the Inland Lake Yachting Association Hall of Fame, and during her active career missed just one Iceboating World Championship held in North America. In addition to actively racing in the sport, Pegel has served on a host of committees and boards in an effort to improve sailing (see list below).

Soon after graduating, Jane Wiswell married iceboater Bob Pegel. Together they started a sailing parts and maintenance business, The Sailing Specialists, in Chicago, which they later moved to Williams Bay.
