Anthony “Tony” Chiurco is a highly accomplished sailor and a key member of the 12- Metre class racing community. He has won numerous championships and awards throughout his career and has served as a mentor to many young sailors, playing a key role in preserving the legacy of the 12-Metre class. Chiurco has won the Annapolis to Newport, Newport to Bermuda, and Miami to Montego Bay races, and has won two Swan World Cups (both in Sardinia). He skippered 12-Metre American Eagle for 12 years and in recent years, he has been involved in efforts to restore and preserve historic 12-Metre yachts, including Columbia. Chiurco has been racing with Columbia for the last six years. You’ll still find Chiurco at the top of every scoresheet and on the podium collecting hardware. Chiurco is also the author of “Up From South Philly.”
